  1. Group Meeting Notes

    Character:

-all characters are 3 dimensional except for Mrs. Lamb..she could change
-character development has not occured yet
    -character delineation is direct
    -author doesn't play favourites

    Theme:

-the major theme is that Terry is writing about his life to his hero..Bruce Springsteen
-the major theme develops in his letters when he tells us his life's story and events
-the theme is new and original

    Plot:

-main characters semi-enjoy their lives, but wish they weremore fortunate at times
-relationship from plot to character delineation is, all of the events happen to Terry
-sub-plot is that Terry has decided to write to his role model and hero Bruce Springsteen
-suspense is that we want to know weather Bruce Springsteen gets Terry's letters and replies to them or not.

    Style:

-book is written in Terry's style of writing(grade nine boy, sometimes uses slang and incorrect grammer)
-very appropriate writing style for our age
-Terry writes ihs letters with lots of humour
-eg-talks about how he knows everything about everything in the hospital(or so he thinks)
-Terry writes with symbolism and compares thing in his writing
-eg-talking about "verbal diharia" or nicknames for his teachers
-dialogue isn't effective because there isn't any

    Setting:

-the setting is in Terry's apartment in a small town
-they talk about Terry's house, and the local hospital
