  1. In the book Bruce Springsteen we read from pages 52-74. As you all
know Terry is into music a lot and received money from his dad. Just
as Terry was walking in the mall he saw a really good deal on a guitar
and amp for $85. To bad with all the money Terry had saved up he still
couldent afford it so Sean told Terry that it was a once in a life
time oppurtunitty sean gave Terry almost enough money for the guitar
and amp so Terry had to give 7-8 tapes.

Although when Terrys mom finds out that Terry got a guitar she wasent
that happy and when she asked where Terry got the money Terry said he
got a loan from Sean, and Terrys mom was not pleased at all. Terry
delays his letters to Bruce Springsteen all because Terrys mom invited
a guy to their house without letting Terry know. So Terry decides he
needs a break and leaves the house and doesont come back for 3 hours
and Terry gets in another fight with his mom because Terry is acting
like a child. When Terry receives the money to pay back Sean from his
mom Terry realizes that she is just trying to make their life easier.
Just as Terry got to Seans house he realized that only Seans parents
are at home. Then Seans parents told Terry were he went but Terry
found out that Seans going out with a girl that he is interested in
Tonya. Sean doesont know that Terry thinks it won't work out and Tonya
    changes boyfriends really quickly.

Sean suggests to Terry that he should
Ask Kristy out on a double date, and Terry says he will think about it
and that he might make the first move this time. Two days later Terry
calls Kristy to ask her out on a double date with Sean and Tonya to
the movies. Kristy says sure and asks what time and Terry said that he
will call her backand let he know. Then Sean and Terry set the time
and phoned Kristys house but Kristy anwsered the phone so Terry left a
message with Kristys Mom about the time. When Terry, Sean, Kristy, and
Tonya were on a double date Terry thought that he was screwing
everything up, but than Terry thought about it and thinks the movie
part went all right, and getting something to eat went alright as well
but where Terry really screwed up was when Terry had to walk Kristy
home and were Terry and Kristy were alone, Terrys conversation dried
up untill it sounded like his tongue had a shot of something. When
Terry and Kristy stood by the house for so long Kristy finaly said she
had to go in and leaned over to kiss Terry.

Terry talks to the Smiths to let them know about the lip sync concert
that will fund-raise some money for them but as long there is no big
deal made. Terry writes some lyrics In one of his letters to Bruce
Springsteen but Terry tells Bruce that the song isn't really his style
and he won't get anywhere playing someones style.

The sources in which the charactes are drawn from are from the mall, and Terry's house the mall because thats were Sean, tonya, Kristy, and Terry went on a date. that is where Sean bought his guitar and amp. The house because terry's mom invited Nick over for supper there and thats where terry got into a fight with his mom.

The authors atitude toward the character is angry,& happy, angry because of the fight that Terry had with his mom and happy because Terry, & sean are going to do this fund raiser for the Smiths.

All of the characters are mostly 3dimensional all except mrs lamb and mrs mackinon.

    yes character development occur.

    character dileation is direct.

  2. In this reading section we have learned a lot about Terry and his life, and not just from his letters to Bruce Springsteen. When Terry first gets the loan from his dad he gets very happy, but when he sees that there is a guitar on sale with an amp he gets even more excited.

There are a few major themes in this section and they are, Terry getting money from his dad and going to spend it on a guitar, the second theme is that Terry starts to talk to and about Kristy more. When the themes are reveled there is some suspense in the book because you want to know what Terry will do with the money, and you also want to know if Kristy will or will not go out with Terry for their double date. The theme is very new and original because of the writing style that the author uses. Even though it may seem like a regular novel based on a kid, it’s very different because of the way the book is layed out.
The theme is very, very entertaining to everyone that reads this book. Terry is a young kid that is telling us his life story through many letters to his role model Bruce Springsteen. Everyone wants to know whether or not he actually gets Terry’s letters and whether or not he actually replies back. The chance is very low that he will reply to Terry’s letters, but that doesn’t stop him. Terry never gives up hope, and keeps writing to his idol.

  3. I disagree with Leor when he was saying that the only feelings that the author expressed were happy and angry. In this section so many different events happened so there must be more than two attitudes that the author felt towards the characters. Another way that the author felt toward the characters would be love, because in this section, Terry is being very nice and he helps out the Smiths with a fundraiser.

  4. i think Julia made a mistake Terry, his sister and his mom got money from his dad it wasn't a loan the money Sean gave Terry was a loan.
and i agree that the theme is very entertaining for everyone who reads the book. and i agree with Julia's comment about my comment Julia's right there are more attitudes that the author felt.

  5. There are many places mentioned in this reading section. They are: Kirkland's house where Terry and Sean thaught of the fundraising plan, Sean's house where Terry and Sean watched the Live aid concert, the Smiths' house where Terry told the Smiths that the money from the concert would be from them, the movies where Terry and Kristy went on their date together with Sean and Tonya, Kristy's house where Kristy kissed him, the mall where Terry saw Kristy and she ignored him, and finally, Terry's house including the bathroom where Terry called Kristy, and his room where he writes the letters to Bruce Springsteen. This all happens over a one month time peroid in the summer.

A sense of atmosphere was evoked in the story in the way that when Terry got his guitar, he was happy, but when Nick was around, he was sad and angry. The setting plays a big part in the plot. It does this by when Kristy kissed Terry, she left the scene and left no more time for talking about it. So if she didn't go inside her house, the rest of the story about her in this reading section would not happen the way it did.

  6. This responce is regarding Leor's post. Leor said that Terry, Kristy, Tonya, and Sean went on their date at the mall, but they actually went to the movies. Leor also said that Terry bought his guitar and amp at the mall but he actually got it at someones house. It even states in the book that the person was moving and the guitar and amp were the last things he was selling.

Everything Julia says is true and I agree with her regarding the major themes of this reading section.
